Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The band held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The band dug through old recordings and tapes to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
