Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
